These two plates were acquired thru a gentleman who acquired them from an estate sale in New Jersey about 15 years ago.  The story was that the former owner was a waiter at The Stadium Club at Old Yankee Stadium for several decades, going all the way back to the 1930's.    The Stadium Club was the classiest dining place in the stadium, and over the years he served all the big stars of baseball, not only just the Yankees.  His widow said that Babe Ruth, with his notoriously voracious appetite, practically lived at the club!  Anyway, when the restaurant replaced the old china with new stock, the staff were permitted to take some of the old plates home as souvineers.    There's no saying, definitively, who ate off of these plates -- Ruth, Cobb, DiMaggio, Mantle -- but it's certainly something to ponder. The plates are 7 1/2 inches in diameter. One is in perfectly beautiful condition.
